Manual typewriter for heavy typing

I'm new to typewriters and got interested after using my cousin's old Olivetti for a weekend. It felt great to type on, but I press the keys pretty hard and they started sticking halfway through.

Now I'm looking to buy a new manual typewriter that's strong enough for heavy typing. I don't need anything fancy, just something that won't jam easily and can handle regular use. Any ideas for good, sturdy models? Thanks a lot!

Welcome to the family! It sounds like you got the bug! The sticking keys on the Olivetti are probably just because of a dusty or dirty segment, which is a common issue with older machines that have been sitting for a while. It might just need a little cleaning and it would likely be good as new so don't let that turn you off from them entirely! But anyway, for what you're looking for, I suggest looking into a vintage Olympia SM series like the SM3 or SM9, a Hermes 3000, or a mid-century Royal like a Quiet Deluxe. They're all excellent choices, built like tanks and have a great snappy feel that can stand up to a strong typist!

Go for a vintage all metal machine with good leverage like Hermes 3000 and Olympia SMs are famous for taking heavy hands but make sure the one you buy has a clean action and get it refurbished too
