Help me find a good electric typewriter

I'm tired of my Alphasmart and I miss the feel of real typing and wanted something with a bit more character. I'm looking for a beginner-friendly electric typewriter. Something under $400 and that's quiet enough to use late at night and doesn't make ribbon shopping a pain.

I write short stories and journal entries, so I don't need anything fancy, but I'd love something reliable with smooth keys. No need for digital storage, I'm fine with paper. Any models you've liked or tips for getting started?
