Hi, can anyone help me identify this Remington Sperry Rand portable typewriter? Photo is attached. Serial number is j2461972. I couldn't figure out how to use typewriterdatabase.com :-) T

Based on your serial number (J2461972), it looks like your Remington Performer was made around 1972. That "J" prefix lines up with early '70s production from Sperry Rand. Nice find! Those red keys are a fun touch! Is it still typing well?

@Steve Lowen, my dad has the same typewriter. it's from the early '70s, so he had to give it a good cleaning, especially the type slugs (the little metal letters on the ends of the arms). That's the first place gunk builds up

Nice, that's a great machine!
Just to add to what the others said, the number range strongly suggest a production date of around 1970–1972, likely manufactured in the Netherlands, which is common for this model.
Have you tried to get a copy of the original owner's manual?
