Welcome to 2026, typewriter friends! I spent New Year’s weekend reorganizing my little typewriter shelf and found a machine I completely forgot I owned. (Apparently 2025 was busier than I thought.) So how about you, what are your plans?
  • Are you cleaning, oiling, or fully restoring anything?
  • Struggling with escapement, feed rollers, or ribbon advance
  • Starting new writing habits or creative projects
Share what you’re tinkering with as we roll into the new year! ✨

Here's a 1972 Adler J5 I got a jumpstart on in 2026(!) and did an evaluation write-up as well... note the instruction manual has a little lady showing all the details of functions instead of an arrow pointing to the parts. Amusing; such were the times.

(The OG metal spools are painted matte silver; doesnt show as nicely as in-person...)

I get what you mean. Was busy for the past few months as well. Hope you find the time now!

@phdezra That J5 is looking great, thanks for sharing! The manuals from that era really are a time capsule, and the illustrated “helpful lady” is peak 70s charm. The matte silver spools are a nice touch too
