renewing platen on Erika 103

I got a hand-me-down Erika 103 from my aunt and I'm hoping to get the platen renewed. I'm afraid I might not be able to put it back together so I need specific instructions so I can do it on my own. If anyone here have a service manual or know where I can get a step-by-step guide, please let me know!

Why do you want to replace the platen yourself instead of having a repair shop handle it, are you looking to learn or just trying to save on cost?

Hi @AkiraVerse_ , Totally agree with @Blues Writer having a pro handle the platen replacement! That's one of those jobs where experience really matters, IMHO - getting the feed rollers aligned perfectly and all the little springs and mechanisms back in the right spots can be tricky. (Not as scary as trying to repair an automatic watch though, but maybe!) Plus, if something goes wrong, you might end up spending more to fix the 'fix' than just having it done right the first time. The Erika 103 is a solid machine worth doing properly.

That said, I get the DIY urge too sometimes- there's something satisfying about learning how these mechanical marvels work. Maybe start with simpler maintenance tasks first and work your way up? Your aunt's typewriter deserves the best care.
