Hi typists!

I just inherited a 1950s Royal and fell instantly down the rabbit hole. My 2026 resolution is to clean it properly, learn basic maintenance, and fingers crossed, not buy five more machines before February.

Welcome to the rabbit hole! Royals from that era are wonderfully serviceable. My goal this year is to replace a few hardened rubber feet and stop pretending they’re “vintage charm.”

Love that for you! those mid‑century Royals clean up beautifully. Well, for me, I’m aiming to rotate all my machines into regular use so none of them sit too long. A little typing every month keeps the carriage rails happy.
