Typewriters may be coming back to the spotlight

I think there's this subtle resurgence of typewriters, both the classic mechanical and some of the sleeker electric models from the 70s and 80s. What used to be thrift store shelf decor is now turning into prized collectibles, daily writing tools, and in some cases, full on replacements for laptops during creative sessions and even seen TikTok creators clacking away on vintage smith coronas, although, maybe just for the sake of content. But do you guys feel me on this?

I’ve seen the TikTok trend too as someone who is chronically online. Some of it’s performative, sure, but I tried typing on a Smith-Corona last month and yep, I get it now. It’s oddly satisfying. Might be more than just a trend.

It’s funny like what started as a hipster trend is turning into a legit movement. I’ve seen coffee shops setting up “typing corners” again. People want that analog focus. I think once folks try it, they realize typewriters aren’t just nostalgia props, they’re actually great productivity tools if you embrace the limits.

@Tomeiwriter Totally agree! It's all about that analog focus. When you can't hit the backspace key, you actually slow down and think, that's great for creative drafts, not just TikTok content
